Check the map. The cottages are about 900 feet from the beach known which stretches for approximately 2 km, from east to west, passing through Northumberland provincial park. It has the classic red sand and a colony of grey seals commonly seen sunning themselves on the rocks just offshore. At the Western point is the iconic Wood Islands lighthouse.
This beautiful sandy beach is one of the best, undiscovered, swimming beaches on PEI.
Perfect for children with no steep drop-offs or strong tides. Ideal for sandcastle engineers, hermit crab wranglers or just relaxing.
Low tide reveals lovely sandbars which are great for digging for tasty quahogs.
Drive to the wharf (2.5 km) and watch the local fisherman bring in their daily catch and enjoy fresh lobster, mussels, oysters or other delights at the seafood stand by the wharf. Visit the lighthouse and watch the fishing and ferry boats come and go. Drive east 5 km to the Rossignol Winery Rossignol Estate Winery and enjoy local award-winning wines. The quaint fishing villages or Murray River and Murray Harbour are only a 10-15 minute drive away.
